Ruins of the Castle in Rivne Region Recognized as Ownerless Property

The Rivne District Administrative Court has ordered the Sosnivka Village Council to take necessary actions to recognize the architectural monument of national significance — “Ruins of the 15th–16th Century Castle in the Village of Hubkiv” — as ownerless property and to formalize ownership rights.

These picturesque remnants of what was once a mighty fortress, located on a rocky bank of the Sluch River near the village of Hubkiv in the Bereznivka region, are part of the Nadsluchansky Regional Landscape Park. This area is renowned for its legends, breathtaking landscapes, and red-listed plants, making it an attractive tourist destination.

Prosecutors have determined that this monument was placed under protection back in 1979, but it still did not have a defined owner.

In order to ensure proper preservation, maintenance, and protection of the cultural heritage site, the prosecutor’s office filed a mandatory lawsuit. The court supported the prosecutor’s position, obliging the local government body to take the legally prescribed steps to formalize rights to the ownerless property.

To date, prosecutors have already ensured the enforcement of the court decision by entering the relevant information into the State Register of Property Rights to Real Estate.
