Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reported that on the night of November 8, Russian forces launched a massive attack on the substations that supply electricity to the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants.

“During today’s attacks, Russia again struck the substations that provide electricity to the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi NPPs. These were not random strikes, but well-planned attacks. Russia is deliberately jeopardizing nuclear safety in Europe. We call for the urgent convening of the IAEA Board of Governors to respond to these unacceptable risks,” said the Foreign Minister of Ukraine.
Sybiha also appealed to all countries concerned about nuclear safety, particularly China and India, urging them to demand that Russia immediately cease its irresponsible attacks on nuclear energy, which could lead to catastrophic consequences.
“It is necessary to exert global pressure to force Moscow to stop its nuclear blackmail,” the minister emphasized.
Recall that on October 31, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported on Russian attacks on key substations that supported the operation of Ukrainian-controlled nuclear power plants, leading to a reduction in the capacity of at least one of the plants.
