Population Screening in Communities
The head of the regional council, Andriy Karayush, announced the resumption of outreach by the skin dispensary to the communities of Rivne region. Yesterday, medical professionals visited Mlyniv, where they examined 89 local residents who took the opportunity to undergo screenings for skin diseases and malignant tumors without traveling to Rivne.
This is reported by Rivne24
During the outreach, serious pathologies were identified, including:
- 2 melanomas — malignant tumors that develop from melanocytes;
- 5 cases of basal cell carcinoma (basalioma), which affects surrounding tissues;
- 3 cases of actinic keratosis — a precancerous condition that occurs due to ultraviolet exposure.
Additionally, diagnoses of psoriasis, total alopecia, eczema, and infectious skin diseases were established for the first time.
Such outreach efforts are an important tool for prevention, as early detection of pathologies allows for timely treatment and helps prevent the development of complications, Karayush noted.
Upcoming outreach dates are scheduled for:
- October 9 – Kostopil Primary Health Care Center;
- November 6 – Sarny Primary Health Care Center.
