October 19, 2025, marks an important date for the parish of the village of Vovkoviya in the Demydiv community, as the Church of the Elevation of the Lord celebrates its 120th anniversary since its founding.

The church was consecrated on September 27, 1905.
The first priest of the Vovkoviya Church of the Elevation was Father Mykhailo Bozhovsky, who also oversaw the construction of the church.
The church underwent painting twice, both inside and out, in 1997 and 2003.
The first bell for the newly built church was brought in the winter of 1905. The enormous bell was transported from Rudnia-Pochaivska using four sleds tied together. Lifting it to a height of twenty-six meters was quite a challenge.
Such is the height of the Vovkoviya church. In 1927, the parishioners decided to gift the church a new set of bells.
To do this, the old bell was melted down and additional materials were added, resulting in four bells on the bell tower – one large and three smaller ones of different sizes.
During World War II, the bells were removed and hidden. According to legends, they might have been concealed in the church’s underground, the labyrinths of which extend beneath the entire building.
