The Death of Junior Sergeant from Rivne Region: Mykola Ksyuk Did Not Return from the War

Junior Sergeant Mykola Ksyuk from Sarny gave his life defending Ukraine.

47-year-old Mykola Ksyuk, call sign “Uncle,” took up arms to defend his homeland in October 2022 as the chief sergeant of the platoon in the 3rd Parachute Assault Company of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade.

On April 8, 2024, during heavy fighting near Vodiane in Donetsk region, communication with him was lost. His family and loved ones hoped for his return for over a year, but in September 2025, after an examination, it was confirmed that he had been killed.

Mykola Volodymyrovych Ksyuk spent his childhood and youth in the city of Varash, where he earned the title of candidate for master of sports in judo. After that, he worked as a coach, nurturing the youth. In 2010, he moved to Sarny, where he built a strong family. He was a caring son, a loving husband and father, always striving to be a support for his loved ones. His family will remember his warmth, support, and smile.

For his courage and loyalty to his oath, Mykola Ksyuk was awarded the Presidential Award of Ukraine “For the Defense of Ukraine” and the brigade badge “For Special Merits.”

He is survived by his wife Natalia, mother Svitlana Mykolaivna, three children, as well as a brother and sister.

Farewell to Mykola Volodymyrovych will take place tomorrow, September 16:

  • 10:00 – farewell at home (Shkilna St., 113)
  • 11:00 – memorial service at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church (Kotliarevskyi St.)
  • 12:00 – public farewell at the central square of the city
  • 13:00 – burial at the Alley of Heroes (Sharpaka St.)
