The Festival of Traditions and Crafts “Kharaluzhni Swords” Will Take Place in Rivne Region

In the village of Kharalug, located 60 km from Rivne, the weapon and valor festival “Kharaluzhni Swords” will take place this Sunday, September 28.

This event, dedicated to the art of blacksmithing and ancient folk traditions, was initiated last year. The festival is organized by the Rivne Regional Center for Folk Art and the Korets City Council.

At the festival, visitors will be able to enjoy all aspects of blacksmithing and other traditional crafts. The program will include workshops from blacksmiths, lectures by art historians, a fair of applied arts, and a demonstration of gastronomic heritage.

A special guest of the festival will be Petro Kohanovskyi, a master blacksmith from the village of Varkovychi in the Dubno region. He will present his exhibition of forged works, share knowledge about blacksmithing tools, and conduct a workshop for all interested.

Additionally, Mykhailo Bulbotka, a master from Volodymyrets, will showcase his collection of axes. The Nemovytse community from the Sarny region will bring an exhibition of traditional linen products, such as towels, covers, clothing, and headwear. Songs and dumy will be performed by the renowned lirnyk, bearer of the kobzar-lirnytska tradition, Andrii Liashuk from Rivne. Furthermore, Yurii Kovalchuk will demonstrate the tradition of making and playing the ancient Polissian folk instrument – the dudka-vykrutka.

The “Kharaluzhni Swords” festival will begin at 14:00.
