Three Cases of Hypothermia Recorded in Rivne Region, One Fatal

On January 31, three cases of hypothermia and frostbite were recorded in the Rivne region, resulting in one fatality and two individuals being hospitalized.

In the Dubno district, a resident of the village of Verba, born in 1959, was admitted to the Dubno Multidisciplinary Hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with frostbite of both feet, second to third degree, with tissue necrosis, as well as pneumonia. The patient’s condition is assessed as moderate.

Another case occurred in the city of Varash, where a local resident born in 1970 was hospitalized at the Varash Multidisciplinary Hospital with a diagnosis of “frostbite of the lower and upper extremities.” His condition is also assessed as moderate.

Unfortunately, in the Sarny district, a resident of the village of Nemovichi, born in 1966, was brought to the Sarny Multidisciplinary Hospital with a diagnosis of “general hypothermia.” Despite the efforts of medical staff, the man died in the hospital.

Rescuers from the State Emergency Service (SES) emphasize the importance of following safety rules during cold weather: it is necessary to dress warmly, avoid prolonged exposure to the cold, refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages, and carefully monitor one’s health.
