The investigation preliminarily established that a 23-year-old resident of the village of Novomylsk, who was driving a “BMW,” did not choose a safe speed, failed to consider the road conditions, and struck pedestrians who were walking along the edge of the roadway in the same direction.
As a result of the accident, a 29-year-old resident of Zdolbuniv was hospitalized with multiple injuries and fractures. His 22-year-old companion sustained a closed head injury and bruises but was released home after receiving medical assistance. A two-year-old child, whom the mother was pushing in a stroller, was also hospitalized with suspected concussion for further observation.
The driver was found to be sober following the breathalyzer test.
Investigators have initiated a pre-trial investigation into the violation of road safety rules.
