On December 24, in the Rivne region, during mobilization activities, soldiers from the Sarny District Military Recruitment Center became victims of an attack by young men of conscription age and random passersby. As a result of the incident, one soldier sustained serious injuries.

According to the command, during an attempt to stop a vehicle that ignored the patrol’s demands, a group of passersby became involved in the conflict. They began to push the soldiers and throw sticks.
“Individuals interfered physically with the lawful demands of law enforcement, which manifested in tugging at military uniforms, shouting obscenities, and throwing sticks. A citizen used a metal object (a rod) during the incident, resulting in one of the soldiers suffering serious injuries: a broken rib and bruises to both lungs,” the post stated.
The condition of the injured soldier is assessed as serious, and he is receiving the necessary assistance. Information about the incident has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under the article concerning threats or violence against a public official or a citizen performing a public duty.
“What happened is a direct obstruction to the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, combined with violence against military personnel. Criminal actions must receive a principled legal assessment. This occurred solely due to the deliberate failure of some citizens to comply with legislation regarding the updating of military registration data and evasion of military duty under martial law conditions,” stated the Operational Command “West”.
The message emphasized that violence against military personnel during mobilization activities undermines the country’s defense capability and plays into the hands of the enemy. The command urged citizens not to succumb to provocations, to avoid spreading unverified videos, and to cooperate with the investigation in establishing the circumstances of the event.
