Before the match:
Lokomotiv is the oldest football club in Kyiv, founded in 1919. The team’s highest achievement was 17th place in the USSR Championship among top league teams in 1938. The club has also repeatedly won the Kyiv championship. In 1947, Lokomotiv was disbanded and only participated in amateur competitions. The club was revived in the 1980s, and in the early 21st century, it returned to professional football.

In 2017, Lokomotiv became the champion of Kyiv, and in the 2023/2024 season, it started in the Second League of the Ukrainian Championship. The club is also actively developing its youth academy. Unfortunately, in January 2024, a Russian missile destroyed the team’s training base; however, Lokomotiv continues to compete at a professional level and is successfully developing. In the new season, the club has already eliminated Kovalivskyi Kolos from the Ukrainian Cup.

History of confrontations:
The teams Veres and Lokomotiv have never met at a professional level before. However, in July of last year, they played a friendly match in Kyiv, where the Rivne team won 3:1 thanks to goals from Ruslan Stepanuk, Mykola Haiduchyk, and Dmytro Hoda.
