Deputy from Rivne Region Caused Over 3 Million Hryvnias in State Losses

In the Rivne region, the State Bureau of Investigations and the Security Service of Ukraine have announced suspicion against Oleg Yurkevich, the deputy head and a member of the Dubno District Council. He committed illegal actions during his leadership of the Dubno Forestry Enterprise.

This is reported by Rivne24

The investigation established that Yurkevich headed the forestry enterprise for a year, and after his dismissal in 2023, he took up a managerial position in the government. During this period, according to the investigation, he acted in the interests of an entrepreneur, creating opportunities for illegal savings on timber processing.

To implement his intentions, Yurkevich entered into contracts with companies from the Volyn, Rivne, and Ternopil regions that carried out timber processing. He sold the processed timber products to a concerned entrepreneur at undervalued prices.

This scheme was not only economically disadvantageous for the state enterprise but also violated legislation. The forestry enterprise, lacking its own production facilities, should have sold the felled timber without additional processing, instead of creating artificial intermediary chains.

As a result, the difference between the actual payments made and the income from the transactions amounted to over 2 million 700 thousand hryvnias, leading to significant losses for the state.

As part of the pre-trial investigation, the employees of the SBI are taking measures to recover the damages incurred.

The official has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — abuse of office leading to serious consequences. Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure and his suspension from office is being resolved.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 6 years, as well as deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years and a fine of up to 1000 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens.

The Rivne Regional Prosecutor’s Office is conducting procedural supervision in the case.
