Driver in Rivne Who Hit Minor Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison

The court found the driver guilty of violating traffic rules while under the influence of alcohol, which resulted in serious bodily harm to a minor scooter rider.

The incident occurred in Rivne in February of last year. The driver of the “Opel Movano” minibus, a resident of Kvasyliv, was speeding when he struck the minor scooter rider on Dubenska Street.

As a result of the accident, the victim sustained severe injuries and is still undergoing rehabilitation.

The accused admitted his guilt and expressed sincere remorse. The victim’s mother pleaded with the court not to imprison the driver.

The court decided to find the man guilty, sentencing him to 2 years in prison and 5 years of revocation of his right to drive vehicles.

Additionally, the court ordered the driver to pay the victim’s mother over 5 million hryvnias in moral and material damages. The driver has already paid about 600 thousand hryvnias.
