Soldier Andriy Polishchuk from Rivne Region Killed in Enemy Drone Attack

Andriy Polishchuk was born and lived his entire life in Kostopil. He studied at School No. 1 and graduated from the local construction and technology college. After his studies, he mostly worked as a crane operator at the Kostopil plywood factory.

The man was mobilized for service in February 2025.

For about a month, he underwent training at a military training ground, and then spent several weeks training as a drone operator in the Dnipropetrovsk region. After that, he was assigned as an operator of a strike drone aviation unit and was sent to Sumy region.

“On May 12, Andriy had his first combat mission. He and his comrades entered the position, wrote that everything was fine, but there might be no communication for a few days. My messages sent an hour later were never delivered. For several days, I wrote and called the commander. He replied that my husband was considered missing in action, as he was reportedly hit by an enemy drone,” said Andriy’s wife, Marina Polishchuk.

The identity of the missing person was established in January 2026 through a DNA profile match.

Soldier Andriy Polishchuk was killed on May 12, 2025, while performing a combat mission near the village of Obody in the Sumy region. He is survived by his daughter, wife, mother, and brother.
