To mark the anniversary, an online meeting was held in the format of a video conference, attended by the President of Zabrze and representatives of medical and cultural institutions from both communities.

During the meeting, the Secretary of the Rivne City Council, Viktor Shakiryzan, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community residents to the city leadership, the Zabrze community, and the entire Polish nation for their ongoing support of Ukraine amid the full-scale Russian armed aggression.

The partnership between Rivne and Zabrze began with cooperation in the field of medicine. The interaction between the Silesian Heart Disease Center in Zabrze and the Cardiology Department of the Central City Hospital in Rivne laid the foundation for inter-municipal relations. Thanks to this collaboration, the development of cardiology in Rivne has significantly accelerated, including the first heart transplant operation performed in the city, and the quality of medical services for community residents has greatly improved.

Over the course of a quarter of a century, cooperation between the communities has also actively developed in the areas of social policy, sports, youth, and cultural exchange.

“Both sides expressed interest in further deepening the partnership in various directions and implementing new joint projects,” says Viktor Shakiryzan. “The city of Rivne highly values its long-standing partnership with the city of Zabrze. The solidarity, support, and consistent position of our partners are a vivid example of true unity among European cities and the foundation for the shared future of our communities.”
