Driver Who Hit Woman and Son in Rivne Taken into Custody

The Rivne City Court has decided to take into custody the driver suspected of violating traffic rules while under the influence of alcohol, resulting in bodily harm to the victims.

On December 18, 2025, in the evening, a 51-year-old driver, while intoxicated, hit a mother and her minor son with his Chevrolet on Peace Avenue in Rivne. The woman and the boy were crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing.

After the accident, the driver fled the scene without attempting to assist the victims.

As a result of the collision, the mother and son sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures of their legs and arms.

Law enforcement quickly located and apprehended the suspect. The man was charged, and on December 19, the court imposed a preventive measure of 30 days of detention without the right to bail.
