The European roe deer is one of the most elegant representatives of the wild fauna in our forests, and also the smallest member of the deer family in Europe.

These animals are usually active at dusk – at dawn and in the evening, which allows them to remain unnoticed. In case of danger, the roe deer exhibits characteristic behavior: rapid running with high jumps, which helps them avoid predators.
During the rutting season (July-August), males occupy and actively defend their territories, marking them with secretions from their scent glands and “rubbing” plants with their antlers.
In warm weather, roe deer usually stay alone (females with fawns), while in winter they may form small groups. In summer, their fur is short and reddish, while in winter it becomes thicker and grayish, improving thermoregulation and camouflage.
