During the monitoring of the park’s territory, a camera trap captured a raccoon dog — a species that is invasive to the fauna of Ukraine.
Two individuals appeared simultaneously in the footage.
The natural range of the raccoon dog encompasses East Asia, and it appeared in Europe as a result of artificial introduction in the 20th century.
This species adapts well to various conditions, reproduces rapidly, and actively colonizes new territories. Raccoon dogs are most often crepuscular and nocturnal, making their observation in the wild a rare occurrence.
