Rivne will bid farewell to Defender Vitaliy Halayko, who was killed in the Donetsk region. Vitaliy Halayko was born on April 11, 1973, in Rivne, attended school number 14, and later obtained a qualification as a radio equipment installer at a local vocational school.

Throughout his working life, he was employed at the “Yamuna” company, which specializes in the production of grocery products. In January 2025, Vitaliy was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“He said he had to be there, as it was his duty to his family and his country – to protect the children and grandchildren. He was a very kind father who loved his family above all. He wanted to live and work, to return to his family as soon as possible – he wished only the best for us,” recalls the Defender’s son.
Unfortunately, 52-year-old soldier Vitaliy Halayko was killed on December 4, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk region.
Vitaliy is survived by his mother, son, and three grandchildren, who will mourn him.
The farewell to Vitaliy Halayko will take place on Tuesday, December 9, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. A memorial service will be held at the Holy Protection Cathedral. The soldier’s burial will take place at the Alley of Heroes in the “Nove” cemetery in the regional center.
