On March 2 at 23:26, the Rivne Rescue Service received a report of a fire at a private household in the village of Velykyi Stydyn, Kostopil Territorial Community, Rivne District, on Vihynska Street.

Rescuers from the 19th State Fire and Rescue Unit in Kostopil, as well as firefighters from the local fire brigades of the villages of Velykyi Mydsk and Malyi Mydsk, promptly arrived at the scene.
Upon arrival, the rescuers found that a wooden residential house was completely engulfed in flames. They immediately began extinguishing the fire using fire-fighting substances. Due to heavy smoke and a high concentration of combustion products, the State Emergency Service personnel operated in special apparatuses to protect their respiratory and visual organs.
During the firefighting efforts, rescuers discovered the body of a woman born in 1962, showing no signs of life, in one of the rooms.
It was revealed that even before the arrival of the rescue units, a man born in 1955 had managed to escape from the burning house on his own and was in a state of shock. The victim, suffering from severe injuries and burns covering approximately 90% of his body, was urgently hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital. Medical professionals assess his condition as critical.
As a result of the fire, the residential house was completely destroyed.
To extinguish the fire, 3 units of special equipment from the State Emergency Service and 10 rescuers were involved.
Currently, specialists are investigating the causes of the fire and assessing the damages incurred.
