On the evening of September 20, residents of the village of Orzhiv in the Rivne district discovered an unidentified object that had fallen straight from the sky.
This object was recorded and published in the Telegram community “Rivne 1283”.

The spokesperson for the regional police, Maria Yustytska, explained that the discovered object is a meteorological balloon, which is an unmanned aerostat designed for atmospheric studies. This balloon consists of a rubber or plastic envelope filled with hydrogen or helium, to which a container with equipment is suspended.
Typically, such instruments are dropped from an aircraft at a significant altitude to take accurate measurements of atmospheric conditions during their descent to the ground. A typical meteorological balloon contains a GPS receiver, as well as sensors for measuring pressure, humidity, and air temperature.
