In Rivne, from December 15 to 20, average daily concentrations of pollutants in the air were recorded above acceptable levels.
This is reported by Rivne24
This was reported by the Rivne Regional Hydrometeorological Center.
According to the results of the conducted studies, the following pollutants were found to exceed acceptable levels in the atmospheric air of Rivne:
- formaldehyde – 1.15; 2.05; 2.15; 2.14; 2.38; 2.65 MAC (maximum allowable concentration) over the week.
Formaldehyde, which is a carcinogen and one of the most dangerous air pollutants, has an established maximum allowable concentration (MAC) in Ukraine of 0.003 mg/m3. According to estimates by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency of the USA), continuous inhalation of air with an average formaldehyde concentration of 0.008 mg/m3 (almost 2.5 times the MAC) throughout a lifetime could theoretically lead to one case of cancer for every ten thousand people. This translates to up to 100 cancer cases per 1 million residents.
