Thanks to the joint efforts of the Rivne Police Department operatives and the patrol police, a suspect was apprehended in less than an hour. He is currently being held in a temporary detention facility.

On January 26, around 8:20 PM, a report was received on the emergency line 102 from a 26-year-old resident of Rivne, stating that an unknown individual had inflicted bodily harm on her husband near a store on Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred Street.
Law enforcement officials established that a conflict arose between two Rivne residents, aged 29 and 50. During the argument, the older of the two, while intoxicated, struck the younger one in the head with a knife. At the moment of the attack, the weapon broke: the blade remained near the victim’s ear, while the handle was discarded by the assailant during his escape.
Medical personnel transported the victim to the hospital, and his life is not in danger following surgical intervention.
Patrol officers near the train station discovered a group of individuals involved in the crime. Among them, detectives from the Rivne District Police Department identified the attacker.
The investigator, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office, arrested the 50-year-old resident of Rivne in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and informed him of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 1 of Article 115 (attempted intentional murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is currently being resolved.
