The police found that on September 29, a 38-year-old man visited a 77-year-old resident of the village of Mala Kletska in the Koretska community. During their shared drinking of alcoholic beverages, a conflict arose between them. In the course of the altercation, the guest struck the pensioner at least three times on the head with a metal pot, after which he went home, taking the weapon of the crime with him.
When he returned an hour later, he found the woman motionless on the floor. The attacker informed a 56-year-old neighbor about the incident, who called for an ambulance.
Doctors hospitalized the victim in a coma, where she died 20 days later.
The perpetrator was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. At the time of the crime, he was in a state of intoxication: the breathalyzer showed 1.95 promille.
The man confessed to the crime and indicated the location where he hid the pot. The police seized the weapon of the crime.
The investigator, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a crime under part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder).
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention, where he remains to this day.
The investigation has completed the pre-trial investigation, and the materials of the criminal proceedings have been sent to court.
Aggravating circumstances include the commission of the crime while intoxicated and against an elderly person. Mitigating factors are sincere remorse and active assistance in solving the crime.
