The police were informed about the burglary by a 49-year-old resident of the village of Antonivka on December 2, around 11 a.m.
Officers established that at the end of November, the victim visited his parents in a neighboring village. Upon returning home two days later, he discovered a damaged window in the bedroom. It turned out that $1,000 and 20,000 hryvnias were missing from the wardrobe.
The man spent four days trying to find the thief himself, but to no avail, so he turned to law enforcement.
Criminal investigation officers quickly identified the perpetrator. He turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of the village of Chakwa, who had already spent all the stolen money.
The investigator opened a criminal proceeding under Part 4 of Article 185 (theft committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The issue of notifying the perpetrator of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
