The Puscha Radziwiłł National Park has reported an interesting find.
This is reported by Rivne24
A European marsh turtle, the only species of turtle living in the wild in Ukraine, has been recorded within the park’s territory.
This encounter is particularly significant, as the marsh turtle serves as an indicator of environmental cleanliness: these reptiles are highly sensitive to changes in their surroundings. If they choose to inhabit the water bodies in this park, it indicates a high quality of the ecological situation.
This species is listed in the International Red Book as being close to a vulnerable state.
Marsh turtles typically spend most of their time in the water or basking in the sun on the shore, quickly diving into the water at the slightest threat.
