Reasons for the Cancellation of the Kovel – Rakhiv Train Due to the Security Situation

Since the beginning of November, the Kovel — Rakhiv train has been canceled due to changes in the schedule related to the deteriorating security situation in Ukraine, reports Ukrzaliznytsia.

This is reported by Rivne24

In response to a request from Suspilne, representatives of the agency explained that the direct carriages of Kovel — Rakhiv were part of several other trains:

  • Kovel — Uzhhorod,
  • Kyiv — Rakhiv,
  • Sumi/Chernihiv — Ivano-Frankivsk — Rakhiv.

As a result of the security situation, the company was forced to make changes to the schedules of some trains, which also affected the routes to Rakhiv. In particular, the routes of the Sumi — Rakhiv and Ivano-Frankivsk — Chernihiv trains were also adjusted, leading to the cancellation of the Kyiv — Vorokhta train from November 2. Consequently, the direct carriages of Kovel — Vorokhta and Vorokhta — Chernihiv also ceased operations.

On average, the “Kovel — Rakhiv” train carried about 70 passengers towards the Carpathians and 82 in the opposite direction, which accounts for approximately 40 — 46% occupancy. In the Chernihiv — Rakhiv carriages, the average occupancy was only 22%.
