Rivne to Bid Farewell to Hero Vasyl Stepanuk

Vasyl Stepanuk, born on June 14, 1985, in the city of Kovel, Volyn region, left a deep mark in the hearts of his loved ones and the entire community. After finishing school, he continued his education at the National University of Water Management and Nature Resources Use, specializing in “Roads and Airfields.”

This is reported by Rivne24

After obtaining his education, Vasyl worked as a design engineer in Rivne, where he also engaged in landscape design. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he actively patrolled the city, becoming part of a volunteer formation. In April 2024, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“He was a very responsible person who loved to acquire new knowledge. If he took on a task, he completed it with quality. He was sent for training to Britain, where he received the necessary military preparation. After his first combat mission, Vasyl was awarded the ‘Golden Cross.’ Unfortunately, we received the award because by that time, he was already considered missing in action,” recalled the defender’s wife.

In addition to his military service, Vasyl Stepanuk was actively involved in community activities: he participated in charity events and was an integral part of the hospital clown team. He also had a passion for football, passing this love on to his son.

Sadly, the 39-year-old soldier was killed on July 21, 2024, while performing a combat mission in Donetsk region. The body of the warrior was recently identified and handed over to his family for a dignified burial.

Vasyl is survived by his mother, younger brother, wife, and two children.

The farewell to the hero will take place on Wednesday, February 4, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. A memorial service will be held at the Holy Protection Cathedral, and the serviceman will be buried at the Heroes’ Alley in the “Nove” cemetery in the regional center.
