Volodymyr Martyniuk, born on May 12, 1977, in Rivne, received his education at secondary school No. 23 and later obtained a higher education degree in “Accounting and Audit” from the National University of Water Management and Nature Management.

In his career, he worked in the financial sector, held managerial positions at the State Energy Supervision and the Rivne branch of the State Emergency Service, from where he retired with the rank of captain. For about 15 years, Volodymyr dedicated himself to the energy sector, working at “Rivneoblenergo” since 2011, where he initially focused on analytics and auditing, and later headed the customer accounts department.
Volodymyr Martyniuk participated in the anti-terrorist operation in Donbas, and with the onset of the full-scale invasion, he voluntarily took up arms to defend Ukraine.
“He called it his duty – to be there in a difficult moment for the country. He was a kind and compassionate person who loved his family above all. Colleagues remember Volodymyr as an intelligent, honest, and principled specialist – he was respected and valued. In his free time, he enjoyed sports, especially football and basketball,” said the Defender’s brother.
Unfortunately, 48-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Volodymyr Martyniuk passed away on May 7, 2026, in the Dnipropetrovsk region while performing his official duties.
The Defender is survived by his wife, three children, mother, and brother.
Farewell to Volodymyr Martyniuk will take place on Wednesday, May 13, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. A memorial service will be held at the Holy Protection Cathedral. The serviceman will be buried at the Heroes’ Alley of the “Nove” cemetery in the regional center.
