On March 4, a 16-year-old student approached an officer of the educational security service at one of the lyceums in the regional center, reporting domestic violence of a physical and psychological nature by her father.
Police determined that on February 28, a verbal conflict arose between the 51-year-old man and his daughter. The conflict was triggered by the girl’s refusal to help with household chores and her obscene remarks directed at her father.
In response to her actions, the man struck the child several times with a rubber hose on her arms and shoulders. As a result, the 16-year-old daughter sustained bodily injuries in the form of bruises and superficial wounds.
Investigators from the Rivne Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office, informed the 51-year-old resident of Rivne of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional minor bodily harm).
The man explained to law enforcement that he was trying to discipline his daughter. The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the materials of the criminal proceedings have been submitted to the court.
Aggravating circumstances include committing a crime against a person with whom the offender has family relations. A mitigating circumstance is sincere remorse.
