The Sarny community has suffered a heavy loss — the fallen Hero of Ukraine Mykola Novatsky.

Mykola Oleksandrovych Novatsky was a true warrior and patriot. Born in the city of Sarny, he worked at the Rivneoblenergo power company before the war began. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he stood to defend his homeland, initially as part of the 104th Brigade of the Territorial Defense, 60th Battalion “Polissia Wolves,” and from January 2024, he served in the 117th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade as a squad commander.
On January 28, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in the Zaporizhzhia direction, communication with Mykola was lost. He was considered missing for a long time, but thanks to DNA testing, his identity was established, bringing the name of the Hero back to the memory of his family and loved ones.
Mykola is survived by his mother Nadiya Vitaliivna, stepfather, brother Dmytro, and son Nazar — the dearest people in his life.
The farewell ceremony will take place tomorrow, September 29:
- 10:15 AM – farewell at home (50 Postal Street)
- 11:15 AM – memorial service at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church (Kotliarevskyi Street)
- 12:30 PM – burial at the Alley of Heroes (Sharpatka Street)
