In Rivne Region, criminals will be tried for facilitating illegal border crossing

Law enforcement officers established that in April of last year, four residents of the Sarny district, aged between 27 and 50, along with a 23-year-old accomplice, organized an illegal business. They promised two conscripts to help them leave the territory of Ukraine for 16 thousand dollars.

This is reported by Rivne24

The offenders provided instructions to the men via messenger, including details on transferring money and bypassing checkpoints. They also used various vehicles to transport them to the start of the walking route.

The accomplice was detained while receiving the money, and one of her associates was caught near the border, thanks to the joint efforts of the investigative department of the Rivne police, the Department of Internal Security, and border guards.

Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Rivne regional prosecutor’s office, have charged five individuals under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for facilitating the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine.

The court has made a decision on preventive measures in the form of detention, however, the offenders took advantage of their right to post bail.

The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the materials of the criminal proceedings against four offenders have been sent to court. An international search is ongoing for their 27-year-old accomplice.

All defendants face up to 9 years of imprisonment.
