In Rivne Region, a Drunk Driver Tried to Escape from the Police

Last night, patrol police stopped a VAZ vehicle in the village of Rachyn for violating traffic rules.

During the interaction with the driver, the officers noticed signs of alcohol intoxication. The driver was asked to take a breathalyzer test, but he refused.

While processing the administrative documents, a passenger, who also appeared to be intoxicated, took the wheel and attempted to drive away. Ignoring the police officers’ warnings, the man began to reverse, creating a serious risk of an accident.

To prevent an accident, the patrol officers quickly stopped the vehicle and removed the driver from behind the wheel. He was also offered to undergo a sobriety test, which he again refused.

Protocols were drawn up against both drivers under Part 1 of Article 130 (Driving under the influence or refusal to undergo a sobriety test) and decisions were made under Part 5 of Article 121 (Violation of seatbelt usage rules) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
