The Security Service of Ukraine reported the conviction of two FSB agents who carried out arson attacks on relay cabinets of Ukrzaliznytsia in the Rivne region. According to the court’s decision, each of them received 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

According to the investigation, the suspects were detained in June 2024. They used sabotage on the railway infrastructure to disrupt the transportation logistics of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the western part of the country.

The unemployed agents were recruited through a Telegram channel that promised easy earnings. They identified a relay cabinet that powers the signals on one of the railway lines and, after coordinating with their FSB handler, set it on fire using a flammable mixture.

Each agent was responsible for their specific task: one set the cabinet on fire while the other filmed it for a report to the FSB. SBU officers apprehended the criminals “in hot pursuit” immediately after the crime was committed.

The court found both agents guilty under parts 2 of Article 28 and 2 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to sabotage committed by a group of individuals in collusion during a state of martial law.
