The Rivne region bid farewell to eight defenders of Ukraine: Valentyn Mykhaliuk, Petro Nesteruk, Serhii Fomin, Oleg Kushymov, Serhii Melnykovych, Vasyl Diadenchuk, Serhii Hoshta, and Ihor Lys.

Stories of the Heroes
Valentyn Mykhaliuk, originally from the village of Zamlynok, was born on October 3, 1989. He joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on April 28, 2025, but unfortunately, he was killed on October 27 during assault operations in Donetsk region.
Petro Nesteruk, born on July 18, 1986, in the village of Rozvazh, took up arms to defend Ukraine on April 3, 2022. His life was cut short on November 1, 2025, in Dnipropetrovsk region due to an enemy strike.
Serhii Fomin, a native of Rivne, was born on December 22, 1970. He joined the Armed Forces in September 2024 and was killed on January 1, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk region, having been considered missing in action for a long time.
Oleg Kushymov, born in 1983 in the village of Rokytne, was also considered missing in action for over a year. He was killed on September 24, 2024, while performing a combat task in Donetsk region.
Serhii Melnykovych was born on July 14, 2004, in the village of Dibrivsk. As a senior gunner of a special operations group, he was killed on October 23, 2025, as a result of enemy shelling while on duty.
Vasyl Diadenchuk, originally from the village of Borove, was born on March 28, 1980. He was called up for service on January 12, 2023, and died on June 5, 2023, in Donetsk region.
Serhii Hoshta, born in 1970 in the village of Dovhovolia, served in a mechanized unit. He went missing in Kharkiv region on February 26, 2024, while on a mission.
Ihor Lys, originally from the village of Zalav’ya, was born on November 19, 1968. He was called up for service on May 3, 2024, and was killed on November 2, 2025.
