Doctors are fighting for the life of a 22-year-old woman who remains in a coma.

On February 18, around 7:00 PM, the police received a report about an unknown woman lying unconscious on Heroes of Kruty Street. The investigative team that arrived at the scene found the victim’s belongings scattered and car debris, indicating a traffic accident.
The 22-year-old woman from Kostopil, who became a victim of the accident, was hospitalized with a diagnosis of: brain coma, closed traumatic brain injury, laceration of the leg, bruises, and contusions.
The investigator has initiated a pre-trial investigation under part 2 of Article 286 (violation of traffic safety rules resulting in serious bodily harm) and part 1 of Article 135 (abandonment in danger) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Necessary police forces have been engaged to search for the perpetrator.
On February 20, employees of Police Department No. 2 (Kostopil), together with the Criminal Investigation Department and the Criminal Analysis Department, identified the person involved in the crime: a 35-year-old serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a local resident.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the driver attempted to conceal the traces of the crime: the pickup truck “Mitsubishi L200,” which belonged to him, was found in Sumy region.
As part of the criminal proceedings, all circumstances of the traffic accident are being established. Expert examinations have been appointed, the results of which will determine whether to notify the 35-year-old resident of Kostopil of suspicion.
