Rivne Says Farewell to Defender Andriy Holovchenko

Andriy Holovchenko, born on October 9, 1989, in the city of Rubizhne, Luhansk region, is known for his dedication to service and education. He studied at a local school and secured his first job at the enterprise “Skloplastyk” in Sievierodonetsk.

In 2018, Andriy joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving in the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade named after the Cossack Ataman Ivan Sirko. After some time in the army, he returned to civilian life and became a chemistry teacher at one of the lyceums in Lysychansk. With the onset of the full-scale invasion, he did not hesitate to return to the TCC to defend his homeland. In 2023, Andriy moved to Rivne with his family.

His combat path took him through the most dangerous areas of Donbas – from the defense of Popasna to strategic positions in Chasiv Yar. During his service, Andriy received numerous awards and honors from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Family and friends remember him as a kind, cheerful, and responsible person. As a teacher, he won the hearts of his students, who respected and loved him. For them, he was not just an educator, but also a reliable friend, always ready to listen and support.

Unfortunately, 36-year-old Sergeant Andriy Holovchenko was killed on April 20, 2026, while performing a combat mission in Donetsk region.

The Defender is survived by his wife and son.

Farewell to Andriy Holovchenko will take place on Monday, April 27, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. A memorial service will be held at the Holy Protection Cathedral, and the serviceman will be buried at the Alley of Heroes in the “Nove” cemetery in the regional center.
