Tick Activity Season Begins in Rivne

During acarological monitoring in the Glory Hill Park, 24 tick specimens were found within just 20 minutes along a one-kilometer route.

Ticks exhibit high activity and hunger, prompting them to hunt all vertebrates, birds, and humans. The ambient temperature is optimal for their essential life processes—growth and reproduction, for which ixodid ticks urgently need blood.

These arthropods can be found in all green zones of the city—parks, squares, yards, and private properties.

In suburban areas, garden plots, as well as in forest and meadow lands, the population of ixodid ticks can be significantly higher, reaching up to 40 specimens per flag/km.

It is known that the so-called “spring peak” of these insects will last throughout March and April.
