This was reported by the Rivne Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
According to medical professionals, the cases of botulism were recorded in the village of Kukhitska Volya. The affected couple includes a man born in 1981 and a woman born in 1983. The diagnosis was made based on clinical symptoms characteristic of botulism.
“On December 2, they consumed pork meat preserves prepared at home from their own ingredients. The patients, in moderate condition, were hospitalized at the Volyn Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital. On December 9, they were administered botulinum antitoxin,” the medical staff reported.
The man and woman are under medical supervision and receiving the necessary treatment.
These are already the fourth and fifth cases of botulism in the Rivne region in 2025.
It was previously reported that on June 24, two cases of botulism were recorded among children aged eight and three from the same family, also due to homemade meat preserves. On June 30, a third case occurred in a nine-year-old boy who consumed meat and berry preserves.
Let us remind you that botulism is a dangerous infectious-toxic disease that can threaten life.
