The sad news was announced by the mayor of Varash, Oleksandr Menzul:
– In the fight for Ukraine, Valentyn Anatoliyovych Savanchuk was killed. On August 27, 2025, our Defender was carrying out a combat mission in the vicinity of the settlement of Filiya in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The 38-year-old sailor, a grenade launcher in the assault landing unit of the 505th separate battalion of the marine infantry, was drafted into service on May 30, 2025.
Valentyn was born and raised in the city of Varash. He studied at Varash Lyceum No. 3 and obtained the profession of a locksmith for reactor-turbine equipment repair at the Vocational School of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant. In 2010, he graduated from Sevastopol National University of Nuclear Energy and Industry, earning a higher education degree in “Nuclear Energy.”
The tragedy of war has touched the Savanchuk family twice. In October 2024, while undergoing rehabilitation, his brother – Taras Savanchuk – passed away.
Valentyn was a loving son, husband, and father to his little daughter…
