A Chapel for the Armed Forces of Ukraine Inaugurated in Rivne

On December 6, the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Metropolitan Ilarion of Rivne and Ostroh consecrated a newly built chapel at one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

On this day, Bishop Ilarion, who blessed the site for construction a few months ago, emphasized the importance of this new sanctuary, which is meant to become a spiritual center of support for the military personnel. Regular services, prayers, spiritual discussions, and Sacraments will take place here, which are especially necessary in times of war.

During the consecration ceremony, the metropolitan addressed the soldiers present, highlighting the significance of the chapel during this challenging time for Ukraine:

“In times of trial, a soldier particularly needs a place where he can open his heart to God. This chapel is not just a building. It is a spiritual refuge where the soldier’s prayer connects with the prayer of the entire Church. Here, everyone will find peace amid anxiety, strength amid exhaustion, and light amid darkness. The Church has been and remains alongside the Ukrainian military: in bunkers, on the front lines, in hospitals — and now here, in this holy place.”

After the consecration, Metropolitan Ilarion offered prayers for the Ukrainian military, for Ukraine’s victory, for all fallen Heroes, and for every soldier who stands guard over their homeland today.
