Law enforcement officials have arrested the forester of the state enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” and the director of a sawmill for illegal logging of oaks, which caused significant damage to the state.

According to information from the Lviv Prosecutor’s Office, in October 2025, it was discovered that the director of one of the sawmills, in collaboration with the forester, illegally logged 100 m³ of oak in the territories of the Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions – timber that belongs to valuable species.
After that, the illegally obtained timber was transported to the Rivne region, where it was stored and processed. As a result of this activity, the state suffered damages exceeding 2 million hryvnias.
Law enforcement officials arrested the director of the enterprise and charged him with bribing a public official (part 3 of article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The forester has been charged with receiving a bribe in especially large amounts (part 4 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
