Farewell to Defender Oleksiy Pavliuk in Rivne

Oleksiy Pavliuk, born on March 2, 1966, in Rivne, journeyed from being a student at the local 12th school to a defender of Ukraine. After serving in the army, he worked in the state security service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and later in the fire department, where he gained experience as a rescuer.

In the first month of the full-scale invasion, he decided to defend his country by voluntarily joining the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade along with his son.

“Our dad was a driver, evacuating people, and he had many missions. During his service, he received numerous awards. Oleksiy was extremely active, brave, strong-willed, and determined, always looking younger than his years,” recalls his daughter-in-law.

Unfortunately, 58-year-old Oleksiy Pavliuk was killed on July 13, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk region. For a long time, he was considered missing in action, but recently, his body was identified and handed over to his family for a dignified burial.

Oleksiy is survived by his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.

The farewell to the hero will take place on Monday, November 10, at 10:00 AM in Independence Square in Rivne. A memorial service will be held at the Holy Protection Cathedral, and the soldier’s burial will take place at the Heroes’ Alley of the “Nove” cemetery in the regional center.
