In the Dubno district, part of the Tarakaniv Fort has collapsed, which is an important architectural landmark. Large chunks of brick masonry have blocked the entrance to this defensive structure, which has been in a state of emergency for several years and is closed to visitors.

Photos and videos from the scene were published by Andriy Shvachko, a senior lecturer at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. The footage shows how the debris has nearly completely obstructed access to the building.
Serhiy Vasyuk, the deputy head of the Tarakaniv village council, reported that the collapse occurred on the night of Sunday, April 12, to Monday, April 13. Fortunately, there was no one on the premises at that time. “The structure has been in a state of emergency for many years, and we have tried to limit access to it as much as we could,” he noted.
Serhiy Vasyuk also mentioned that warning signs have been installed near the fort, the area has been cordoned off with red tape, and concrete blocks have been placed at the entrance to restrict vehicle access. However, despite these measures, tourists continue to visit the landmark, having picnics there and riding ATVs.
According to Vasyuk, accidents have occurred on the grounds of the Tarakaniv Fort multiple times. The site is surrounded by earthen mounds and dense vegetation, and local residents have fallen into abandoned wells and shafts several times. Although local residents rarely visit this location, it remains popular among tourists, especially due to its proximity to the Kyiv-Chop highway (M06 road).
The Tarakaniv Fort is a state property assigned to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which is responsible for its maintenance. At the same time, the Department of Culture and Tourism has reported that the regional military administration will participate in addressing the aftermath of the collapse.
