Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the police, the identity of the driver who fled the scene of the accident has been established.

Yesterday, January 30, at around 08:30, the police received a report from a 59-year-old man who discovered the body of a pedestrian on the road near the village of Shubkiv.
The investigative team, upon arriving at the scene, determined that a 25-year-old resident of the village of Nova Ukrainka had died as a result of a traffic accident. Additionally, fragments of the vehicle were found.
Within a few hours, the police analyzed the circumstances, reviewed video recordings, and interviewed potential witnesses, which allowed them to clarify all the details of the tragedy.
On January 29, around 20:00, a 26-year-old resident of the Ternopil region, driving a Jeep Cherokee, hit a pedestrian. Instead of stopping and providing assistance, the driver fled the scene.
Investigating the situation, law enforcement officials discovered that the driver attempted to cover up the crime: he called the emergency line 102, reporting that his car had been stolen, while providing false information. In the morning, he called again, claiming that he had found his vehicle.
The perpetrator was detained in accordance with legal procedures and is now in a temporary detention facility, where he has already been informed of the charges against him. The vehicle that left traces of the accident has been seized. According to law enforcement, the penalty under the article provides for imprisonment of 3 to 8 years.
