A farewell ceremony was held in Rivne Region for the fallen defenders of Ukraine: Viktor Nabukhotny and Ruslan Sakhvon from Sarny District, Anatoliy Lopuha from Dubno District, Vasyl Karpyuk from the Rivne community, Andriy Syrota from the Korynyn community, Viktor Novak and Valeriy Melnyk from Derazhne Territorial Community, and Vasyl Petrenko from Varash community.

Viktor Nabukhotny, who lived in the village of Yarynivka in Sarny Territorial Community, joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in March 2022. He held the rank of sergeant and had the call sign “Landysch.” Unfortunately, Viktor was killed in action on December 7, 2025, while serving in Lviv Region.
Ruslan Sakhvon, a resident of Dubrovytsia, served in a mountain assault battalion. He served for 23 years in the border troops and held the rank of warrant officer. Sadly, Ruslan passed away on December 11, 2025.
Vasyl Petrenko, a native of Varash, took up arms to defend Ukraine in 2022. The 42-year-old soldier served in the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hero of Ukraine Valeriy Hudzy. He was killed on November 10, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk region, having been considered missing for a long time. Only now has the soldier’s body been laid to rest in his native land.
Anatoliy Lopuha, born in 1973 and residing in the village of Pereroslya in Tarakaniv community, was considered missing in action while performing a combat mission in the Donetsk direction. He was killed as a result of a mortar shelling in Donetsk region on November 21, 2024.
Vasyl Karpyuk, a 56-year-old senior sergeant, was killed on December 15, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in Donetsk region. He was born on January 18, 1969, in the village of Stara Moshchanytsia in Rivne district.
Andriy Syrota, born on January 27, 1994, in the village of Korynyn, joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on November 7, 2024. After training, he served as a shooter-sapper in the 5th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade. Since January 22, 2025, Andriy was considered missing in action. Subsequently, DNA testing confirmed that he was killed while performing a combat mission in Donetsk region.
Viktor Novak, born on February 27, 1977, in the village of Zhylzha, served as a driver-electrician in the radio-electronic warfare company after joining the Armed Forces in November 2024. He was killed on December 8, 2025, from injuries sustained during a combat mission in Donetsk region.
Valeriy Melnyk, a defender born on September 4, 1972, in the village of Bychal, took up arms to defend Ukraine in March 2022. Since January 6, 2025, he had been considered missing in action. After prolonged searches and DNA testing, it was confirmed that he was killed on January 6, 2025, while performing a combat mission in Donetsk region.
