In Rivne Region, organizers of illegal coal production to be prosecuted

Pollution exceeding permissible norms by 18 times has been detected on 225 square meters of agricultural land.

In June last year, a community police officer in the village of Yatskovychi discovered three pyrolysis furnaces and 21 cubic meters of wood of various species on the property of a 45-year-old man.

Additionally, in September, law enforcement officers found three barrels for charcoal burning and 40 cubic meters of timber products in an area near the village of Mykhailyn.

The perpetrators did not provide any documents confirming the legality of their activities.

The investigator of the VPU No. 4 (Berezne) under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office informed two offenders of their suspicion of committing crimes under part one of Article 239 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (pollution of land with substances, waste, or other materials harmful to the environment due to violations of special rules that created a danger to the environment).

The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the materials of the criminal proceedings have been sent to court.
