Junior Lieutenant Roman Stelmakh from the Varash community has received high state awards. Recently, he was honored with the badge “For the Defense of Ukraine” from the President and the badge “For Diligent Service” from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This award is not the first for Stelmakh: he previously received the medal “Defender of Ukraine,” as well as the “Cross of Honor” and other awards for his service.
Roman grew up in Varash and graduated from Lyceum No. 5. After that, he worked as a software engineer at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He has progressed from soldier to junior lieutenant, participating in combat operations in Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk, Avdiivka, Kupiansk, and Mariinka. He is currently continuing to defend Ukraine as part of the 115th Brigade.
