An unauthorized landfill has been discovered and eliminated in the Velykomelyan community of the Rivne district.

Specialists from the State Ecological Inspection of the Polissya region, together with representatives of the Velykomelyan Village Council, conducted an inspection of the area based on citizens’ complaints. The purpose of this action was to verify the facts outlined in the complaint received by the Inspection.
During the inspection, inspectors found that the area contained organic waste and also recorded the plowing of the protective coastal strip of the water body. At the time of the inspection, the individuals responsible for these violations had not been identified.
As a result of the inspection, the Inspection sent a request to the Velykomelyan Village Council asking to eliminate the unauthorized landfills and bring the protective coastal strip into compliance with current legislation.
Additionally, during a raid aimed at preventing violations of environmental legislation in the field of waste management, inspectors discovered another spontaneous landfill. This landfill was also eliminated at the request of the State Ecological Inspection of the Polissya region by local authorities.
